Oprah and Apple are teaming up to take over the world, presumably.
Apple announced a new multi-year partnership with Oprah Winfrey, in which the voice of our generation will produce content for the tech giant in the form of original programs. The exciting news came on Friday, just in time for us to spend the whole weekend celebrating the arrival of new Oprah shows.
The announcement didn't come with any additional information, such as what kinds of shows we can expect or exactly where they'll live, but they may live in Apple's TV app and be available on Apple TVs. This is just speculation, though, because Apple hasn't revealed what it plans to do with all the original programming it has ordered over the last year.
The only detail we get is this: "Together, Winfrey and Apple will create original programs that embrace her incomparable ability to connect with audiences around the world."
That sounds about right. With TheOprah Winfrey Show, Oprah became one of the most influential entertainers in the world through her unending supply of compassion and ability to connect with people from all walks of life.
When The Oprah Winfrey Showwent off the air in 2011, it left a hole in many loyal viewers' hearts. Oprah continues to produce shows on the Oprah Winfrey Network (OWN), produce and act in movies and television shows, and produce O, the Oprah magazine.
Apple's lineup of original programming is expected to debut in March 2019, according to The New York Times, so we may have quite a long wait ahead of ourselves until we see this partnership come to fruition.
